Afro-brazilian dance class with live percussion

Born a Baiana from Salvador, in Brazil's north-east, Alessandra Bada grew up in the outskirts of Sao Paulo city without leaving aside her Afro-Brazilian ancestry. Enchanted by the richness and diversity of African culture, which alongside the Indigenous people, are the roots of Brazilian culture, she found in dance the space to remember, celebrate and share the origin of the land that, despite difficulty and inequality, has a people who still find reasons to smile and celebrate. Alessandra teaches Capoeira and popular Brazilian dances that express the art of everyday people through the body. Bringing rhythms such as Jongo, Coco, Maracatu, Samba de Roda, Frevo, Maculelê, among others, she comes to share some of this mixture in a delicious Northeastern flavor, enchanting audiences with her Brazilian dance and live percussion. After the introduction, Go Dance Ireland has the honor to present: Criola Dance - Afro-brazilian dance classes by Alessandra Bada and more. The first of a serie of rhythms from Brazil! Criola comes from the term Criolo, which means in Brazil, a person of African ancestry plus the femininity of the term sang by Jorge Ben Jor in his Criola named tune: "a beautiful black lady, a loyal Brazilian representative". Criola Dance is a new approach to Brazilian dance & movement that draws from the history of Afro-Brazilian culture. The class is on Sundays at 4:30pm at The Liffey Trust Studios (beside 3 arena/The Point Red Luas stop). It is an inclusive hour-long dance fitness/choreography class with live percussion where the aim is to share culture, expressing feeling through movements and having fun together! So while learning some Brazilian rhythms you will burn calories, learn new steps, dance your worries away, make friends, empower yourself, pay attention to and work on your own style in order to feel confident and appreciate your own body and support others around you to do the same. All levels welcome!
