      Hard Rain: Across the Pond

The Association of Irish Composers is delighted to bring Belfast’s acclaimed and astonishing Hard Rain Soloists Ensemble to Dublin’s Lutherhaus on March 29th at 3.30pm for a virtuosic and probing concert. The event is the final leg of a tour taking in Belfast and Birmingham. HRSE have the following to say about their fantastic programme: HRSE performed Elliott Carter’s Triple Duo a few years ago and it has been a work that the ensemble has longed to return to. As they celebrate their fifth anniversary, this seemed the perfect time to revisit this monumental and challenging chamber work. A perfect opportunity as well to perform some of Carter’s compatriots, resulting in a programme with a strong USA thread, albeit a broad stylistic variety. Perry Goldstein’s Twittering machine is a beautifully wrought reflection on the eponymous painting by Paul Klee. From our side of the pond we have two spanking new pieces to offer audiences. Firstly, one of HRSE’s latest commissions, Ground Truthing by Piers Hellawell, and then the latest work from Greg Caffrey to complete his Yeats trilogy, Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold. Finally, we have a work that straddles both countries, Winter Reflections from Connecticut-born Irish composer (and our 2018/19 Featured Composer), Jane O’Leary. Music will begin at 3.30pm and the concert will last c. 70 minutes, with no interval. The Lutherhaus is a gorgeous, bright room located beside St Finghin's Church on Adelaide Road, minutes from Grafton Street and directly beside the Harcourt LUAS stop.Tickets: €10/7, available on eventbrite.ie now! Date and Time: 3.30pm, 30th March 2019 [duration: 70 minutes, no interval] Venue: Lutherhaus, St Finiain’s Church, 23 Adelaide Road, Dublin 2, D02XP21Full Programme: Twittering Machine (1997 rev. 1998) Perry Goldstein (1952) fl, cl, vln & vcl, pno & perc.
