Climate Change in Ireland – What is the Cost to the Transport Sector?

We invite you to participate in our stakeholder workshop entitled 'Climate Change in Ireland - What is the Cost to the Transport Sector?' in the Ballsbridge Hotel in Dublin on Monday October 21st 9:00 - 13:00. We do hope that you will be able to join us and contribute to enhancing our knowledge on this important topic. This workshop is being hosted by the EPA-funded TACT project (Methodologies for Financing and Costing of Climate Impacts and Future Adaptation Actions) and aims to bring together transport network owners and operators in Ireland, climatologists, local county council representatives, emergency responders, as well as others, to determine the impact of climate change on the transport sector in Ireland. Workshop participants will be presented with future climate change scenarios (e.g. extreme flooding) and asked to determine the potential impacts on their networks, including physical damage, network disruption and the associated costs, which can be used to inform adaptation planning to increase the resilience of transport networks. The project is focused on road, rail and maritime networks and therefore stakeholders that manage road and rail networks, as well as port and harbours, are particularly welcome. Who should attend? Road, rail and port/harbour infrastructure owners, road, rail and ferry operators, local county council representatives, climatologists, emergency responders, engineers, insurers, etc. Why should you attend? Workshop participants will gain a broad understanding of the impacts of climate change on road, rail and maritime networks in Ireland, as well as adaptation planning options. This workshop also supports local county councils in terms of the implementation of their climate change adaptation strategies.
